Holmen’s Church

IMG_6041

Holmen’s Church is a church located at Holmen’s Kanal in central Copenhagen.

In 1562-63, the church was an anchor smithy and in 1619 king Christian 4 decided that the building should be rebuilt to a church for the sailors who lived in the area. In 1941, the church was extended to the church, as we know it today.

The church has also been used for royal events such as weddings and christenings.

My own experience: It is a big and beautiful church, which definitely is worth a visit if you are in the area.
