From the station depart several trains per hour to Kastrup airport and Sweden.
In addition several commuter trains depart per hour covering the metropolitan area. Most trains stop at Nørreport station, from where you can take the subway, which currently (2014) has two train lines.

My own experience: I have for many years taken a train a few times a year from Copenhagen Central Station. The station is not very big and it is easy to navigate. In addition several
electronic boards are placed visible where the different train departure and arrival times shown.
